Opera glasses are also called theater binoculars. They are compact and low powered devices used for optical magnification at performances. Originally they were used at operas. The magnification of opera glasses is usually about a 3x power and is always under 5x. This is necessary due to light constraints.

Opera glasses compare in some ways to binoculars. However, opera glasses are designed for indoor use. They are found useful at indoor theaters and in many other performances where seats may be located some distance from the stage, as in balconies or the back of the theater. The glasses give the patron the ability to see the stage from the far away locations.

Opera glasses work on a different optical basis than do binoculars. Binoculars are classified as a matched set of folded telescopes while opera glasses are made on the principle of a Galileo’s first telescope. They have a convex lens nearest the stage and a convex lens nearer the eye. This makes the image to appear right side up, unlike other telescopes. The image is not the quality of binoculars, but is still acceptable for indoor viewing of shows. In addition mirrors are not needed as they are in binoculars.

The design of opera glasses is so that they are small. They should not be obtrusive or distracting to other theater goers. Some models are designed to fold so that they easily fit into the pocket or purse.

Use of opera glasses can take some getting used to. One suggestion is to try an inexpensive rental of opera glasses. They are often available at the larger operas. If you rent before you buy, you will know if opera glasses help you to enjoy the show.

During the 1700s opera goers often carried spectacles on a long handle called a lorgnette. Historians agree that these glasses were truly more ornamental than they were useful. The lorgnette was the preferred spectacle of the fashionable ladies of the time. Today many of the fancier opera glasses take the shape of the lorgnette of that era.

Opera glasses use is certainly a personal choice. While some patrons find them very useful when trying to follow a story line other find them quite annoying and unnecessary to follow the plot. Of you do not want to use opera glasses, but have difficulty in following a story line, you may want to pay more for a better seat next time to get a better view of the show without using the glasses.

Jeff B. has always loved the theater and opera, he currently helps run an opera glasses retail site where they sell opera glasses. Including Opera Glasses with handle, flashlight, chain and more!

Sometimes it can be hard to see things in a performing arts venue. If you have a tough time seeing things then opera glasses can always be used. These glasses are ones that can help you to see things at one of these events. Not all pairs of opera glasses are the same though. There are many parts of these glasses to watch for.

The build of the glasses is the first thing to watch for. When you are at an opera house or other performing arts center you will need to look your best. The glasses you use should be built with brass materials that are elegant in appearance. Brass will also be durable and cannot scratch easily. The paneling can also feature a wooden finish to it.

Magnification is something that is important to see in your opera glasses. In most cases you can magnify items to three times their size. Some of the most powerful glasses work at five times magnification levels. Regardless of where you are sitting you can use these glasses for your benefit. This includes when you are very far out of the stage.

The lenses you are using should also be ones that can allow you to have a larger field of vision. Most opera glasses have lenses that are twenty-five millimeters in diameter. This is so you will be able to see many things on the stage. It is also not too big so you will be able to focus on individual things on the stage.

Being able to get your glasses stored properly is also useful. In many cases you can get your glasses folded up with ease. This is done by folding them at the center of the glasses. Even if you cannot use this on your glasses you can always use a good storage case. A strong case or a containment pouch can always be used.

The last thing to look into involves how you will handle the glasses. Some glasses are Lorgnette glasses that work with a convenient handle. Others work like standard types of binoculars and will be handled on their sides. These two options are useful to look into when finding glasses.

Opera glasses are useful materials to use for your vision needs at any performing arts event. These glasses work as materials that are used to help with getting you to see things at performance events. You will need to watch for many things when finding these glasses. These include not only the magnification and vision provided but also how they can be handled.

Before you attend any performance make sure that you have a good pair of opera glasses. Here you can check out Opera Glasses with handle, flashlight, chain and more!

If it wasn’t for the Dutch optician Hans Lipperhey, we might not have had either binoculars or opera glasses today. He first started manufacturing simple binoculars in 1608. These were not much more than two telescopes connected by a central bridge, but they led to many further modifications and improvements. His early binoculars had a magnification capability of x3. Within less than a year the Italian mathematician and inventor Galileo Galilee made another drastic stride forward by increasing the magnification ability of telescopes to x30.

Initially binoculars had one major drawback: Although they allowed for a much wider field of view, they used two convex lenses, which inverted the image! It took more than 100 years for the next major step forward: in 1617 Anton Schyrle constructed binoculars with an additional lens that re-inverted the image. More than–0 years later a certain John Dollond of England started manufacturing achromatic (color-free) lenses and with that solve another problem bugging binoculars – that of color distortion.

Another major step forward was the development of prismatic binoculars by an Italian by the name of Ignazio Porro – a gunnery officer. Prismatic binoculars had a much wider field of vision than before and offered dramatically improved magnification abilities as well.

Opera glasses are mentioned for the first time in London newspaper advertisements dating back to 1730. These were not binoculars, but small Galilean telescopes. They were both used decoratively and to watch opera with. The bodies were often inlaid with gems, mother of pearl, ivory, enamel and other types of decorations.

Binocular-type opera glasses made their appearance for the first time during the ’20s in Vienna. These early types were basically still only two small telescopes with a connecting bridge. The individual telescopes had to be focused by pulling out the tubes.

These very soon became as much a fashion item as an optical instrument. The designs became more elaborate and had to be worked on by painters, goldsmiths and other artists to create the ultimate fashion accessory. Theater goers not only used this to watch the stage, but also to scrutinize other people in the audience – presumably to see who else had opera glasses!

The design soon improved to allow for the simultaneous adjustment of both lenses. This was another major step forward and only served to increase the popularity of this type of glasses. They also became highly valued gifts – as one can see from the inscriptions found on many opera glasses of the time.

Nowadays there is a wide array of opera glasses available. You can get them in virtually any color you want. They come in many different styles and materials. Strangely enough, monoculars are still popular, as are opera glasses with handles or reading lights. You even get them fitted with a jealousy glass – so you can watch another person in the audience without being seen!

Before you attend any performance make sure that you have a good pair of opera glasses. Here you can check out Opera Glasses with handle, flashlight, chain and more!

Opera Glasses are somewhat like binoculars except that they are for seeing stage performances. The opera houses of yesterday had seats that were free or cheaper for people but they were far away from the stage up on balconies. The stage was so distant that one could only see the figures moving around on stage. Props were nonexistent and seeing the singer or actors face was impossible. Opera glasses would make it a little easier for those sitting in the cheap seats to see what was happening on stage and see what the actors actually looked like. Opera glasses have been in use since the 50’s.

Opera glasses are different from binoculars as they are made to be smaller and some where made not so much to look utilitarian but to look stylish. Some pop up from a flat looking case and are easily carried in women’s clutch bags or in suit coat pockets. Others fold so that they can easily be carried around without notice. There are some that mimic those of the past with a single rod attached called a lorgnette, so the glasses can be held to the eyes with only one hand. This folds up as well.

Opera glasses can be found for purchase today. There are inexpensive ones that cost about $50 to $100 but there are others that can be more expensive. These kind are equipped with better optics and larger magnifications and may be unique in the way they look. You can also get vintage opera glasses that may cost much more merely because they are antique. Always try them out to make sure they are still in working order.

Often times theaters and opera houses will rent opera glasses for a nominal price. If you go often you may want to consider purchasing your own, but if your visits are infrequent plan on renting. Before purchasing it is a good idea to try out different styles to see what suits you best. There are those people who don’t mind holding them with both hands and some that would prefer using the one hand hold with the rod at the side. You may even find you don’t want to use them as they interfere with the performance or you find it hard to hold them in place.

Binoculars differ from opera glasses in magnification. The system used in opera glasses is a simple system whereas that used in binoculars is quite extensive. The system used in opera glasses is based on the simple system invented by Galileo called the Galilean optical system. The images will not be as sharp with opera glasses but you can still see most of what you need to on the stage

China is the major producer of opera glasses today. They usually have a 3 X magnification that is good for a concert hall or big auditorium. Some go up to 5 X but they tend to cost more. Some come equipped with a center focus and others don’t focus at all. The ones that do not focus usually have a small LED light that is placed between the barrels for the eyes. It helps you to read the program in dim lights without bothering the person in the seat next to you. People with good vision have no problem with these but if you do wear glasses or contacts you might want to look into the focusing type. There is a mechanism for the focus in the focusing opera glasses that takes the place of the light. You can use them with corrective lenses or without.

Cases usually come with new opera glasses and the vintage type will also have them. Soft cases are available as well as the hard type with a velvet lining. Antique glasses can be made of ivory or cloisonne enamel or they may have jewels attached or be decorated with gold or silver. These opera glasses were made to be elegant although you were not supposed to notice them. Either type make a great gift for those who frequent the opera, ballet or theater.

Before you attend any performance make sure that you have a good pair of opera glasses.

Devices to improve eyesight in general have been around for hundreds of years. It was not until the 1800’s that opera glasses achieved their position as a status symbol among theater-goers of the day.

Opera was also an important social event. People attending the opera wanted to be able to see and be seen and often spent time scanning the audience as well. To do this, they needed a simple and convenient magnifying device. Opera glasses were the perfect solution.

Opera glasses rapidly became status symbols and ways for people to show off their wealth. If you had the money to attend the opera you wanted others to know it. And a great deal of business was conducted at intermission as well. A huge portion of the high society social calendar was taken up by opera season.

People found ways to make the glasses much more ornate. They became an accessory that told a lot about the owner’s social status. They often featured elaborate cases made of precious metals or that were highly enameled. Inlays of mother-of-pearl and other precious materials also became quite common. There were also several variations that became popular. They included the lorgnette, with a handle that allowed you to hold the glasses up to your face. There was also a folding version that was popular as it could be collapsed and stored in a purse or other case.

Opera glasses are still used today and can be quite helpful in modern theaters which can be very large. You can find them in many specialty stores such as ones which sell cameras and binoculars. There are also a number of websites which sell opera glasses. These can be good starting places to look. These sites allow you to compare a number of different models and prices.

When you are purchasing your opera glasses you should check the level of magnification that they offer. It is usually recommended that you look for a 3x magnification. This will allow you a good field of vision and will minimize the amount of shaking may see from hand movement. Anything over 5x magnification is considered to be too high.

Once you know what your options are you can decide what style you are interested in. They still come in folding and lorgnette styles. There are compact models which will fold down into plastic cases which can make them more durable for outside use. This could be handy at an outdoor concert or at a rock concert where you may accidentally drop them.

Opera glasses can be a useful and beautiful accessory. It is an item with a long history that can make your trip to the theater much more enjoyable.

Jeff Bridges has always loved the theater and opera, he currently helps run an opera glasses retail site where they sell opera glasses. Including Opera Glasses with handle, flashlight, chain and more!

Prepare yourself for an awe inspiring event and treat yourself to a night of The Phantom of the Opera, this performance will fill you with feelings ranging from sadness to ecstasy. As always, when attending any performance, remember to bring your opera glasses.

Our Story begins in the nineteenth century, and the curtains open to reveal that two business men have purchased an old theater house which is haunted by a spirit. This spirit is that of a genius construction worker who helped build the opera house by the name of Erik. The reality of the matter is that Erik is not in fact a phantom but was one who was disfigured from birth. To cover the disfigurement of his face the Phantom of the Opera wears the mask that we all know so well today.

As time goes on the Phantom come to one of the performers; Christine, and tells her that her father who has passed away, has sent him from heaven to give her voice lessons. The Phantom begins to train her through the walls of her dressing room, as these take place over the course of time Christine becomes a remarkable singer, and takes the leading role in the opera.

During a performance one day, while on stage, Christine passes out and Raoul, a childhood friend of Christine who happens to be sitting in the audience comes to her rescue. Raoul falls in love with Christine, and begins to visit with her and bring flowers to her after many performances.

Jealousy of Christine and Raoul begins to consume Erik, for the Phantom has also fallen in love with Christine. Erik can no longer restrain himself from meeting in person with Christine. When he finally appears in her dressing room, he does so wearing the famed mask. He then takes Christine deep within the catacombs of the opera house to his secret home.

Christine finds out that The Phantom does not plan to release her. At this point she becomes very fearful and also very angry. Erik then makes a promise to her that she will be let go after staying for five more days. At this point he takes Christine on a tour of his underground home, which features many strange things. Be sure to be using your opera glasses at this point of the performance, for this part can truly not be forgotten.

Christine cannot wait to see just who Erik is and why the mask is on his face. She grabs his mask and quickly takes it off during a remarkable duet. Grab your theatre glasses so you may get a glimpse of Erik’s face. The lights may be too dimmed but it is worth a try! More chills will be sent down your spine with the screaming from the horrible site revealed. This deception angers Erik who now thinks he will not let Christine leave his spooky home. Erik so wants Christine to love him and you can feel his passion.

The story moves on from this pinnacle point, but you will have to attend this play to truly appreciate the masterpiece that it is. The music will amaze you, the storyline astound you in this epic performance. This is a show you will want to see several times, and as always remember to bring your opera glasses to experience it to its fullest.

Jeff Bridges has always loved the theater and opera, he currently helps run an opera glasses retail site where they sell opera glasses.

Secured loans otherwise known as homeowner loans can be used for almost any purpose as can remortgages. All these three forms of secured homeowner loans can be used for almost any purpose. These purposes can be fom anything from the purchase of a car or caravan to any form of home improvements right through to debt consolidation, school fees or even to buy a second home in the sun.

You can even use a remortgage or a secured homeowner loan to treat yourself to the holiday in New York that you always promised that you would take with your partner.

By taking out a secured homeowner loan or a remortgage you will not have to economize on the quality of holiday.

Saunter through Central Park hand in hand with your partner and try to rekindle the romance that seemed to be lost in the hustle and bustle of your day to day life in the UK and kick the red and gold Autumn leaves that gather at your feet.

New York is home to wonderful restaurants which offer food from every corner of the globe. So whether Chinese is your food of choice or Indian is more to your taste there is sure to be a restaurant to suit you. Italian restaurants abound in the Big Apple, and as there is big Italian population most of these are owned by people from the old country and as such they are in general very good.

Ther is bound to be a Mario’s on one street or the other and all these restaurants may offer regional cuisine from different areas of Italy. If seafood is your favourite food it will be more possible to find mouth watering sea food in a Neapolitan restaurant. Enjoy the langoustines, oysters, squid, etc served with delicious pasta often black with the ink from cuttle fish giving a more intense taste of the sea all washed down with the best wine in the house. There is no need to economize on the food you choose as your remortgage or homeowner loan will pay for it all, and the repayments are affordable.

A gentle walk along Fifth Avenue will take away the affects of all the calories before taking a cab to Broadway to see your favourite actor or actress tread the boards in the flesh instead of gazing down on you from the cinema screen in your local cinema.

As you can see secured homeowner loans, whether in the form of a homeowner loan or a remortgage can allow you to enjoy the little luxuries of life.

Anyone who goes to Las Vegas will be amazed at the number of shows on and off the strip. It seems that almost every hotel has some sort of show, many of them with big name stars. The shows in Vegas are one of the calling cards of this city that boasts of being the most fabulous city in the world.

Las Vegas is home to some of the biggest performance artists that cater to all your entertainment needs. If you want your imagination to be splendidly assaulted, you can book a seat on one of the shows of well-known magicians. There are also hypnosis and psychic shows for those who are into the surreal.

Watching the percussion group Blue Man Group may be fine in any city but there performance is over the top on their home turf, which is Las Vegas.

Cirque du Soleil is one of the most successful shows on the strip and has expanded from one show to five different shows. Each of these shows is a totally separate concept and all play at different hotel locations. These Cirque du Soleil productions have become one of the most successful Las Vegas stories and walking into one of their shows may leave you speechless.

If you want something a little lighter, there are many comedy shows available for you to go to as well. Famous comedians routinely go to Las Vegas to sharpen their acts and to entertain and there are some acts that have made a career of performing there. After watching a night of the dramatic with Cirque du Soleil, it is nice to go to a different kind of show of comedy or a variety show.

Tourists go to Las Vegas with money to splurge. They are there to enjoy themselves and take some time off their everyday routines. And Las Vegas is more than willing to give them just that, with shows that are out of the ordinary and glamorous at the same time. He tells her that he has been sent to her by her dead father to give her voice lessons, and that he is an angel her father spoke of called The Angel of Music. The Phantom begins to give voice lessons to Christine though the walls of her dressing room, careful to never let her, or anyone see him. As the plot continues, Christine becomes an amazing singer, and quickly advances to being the star of the show.

As Christine is performing one night on stage, Christine faints, and a man in the audience comes to save her. This man Raoul, we find out is a childhood friend of Christine, and begins to fall in love with her. Raoul begins to attend her performances, gifting her with flowers, and visiting with her often.

As Christine and Raoul start to fall even more in love, the Phantom; Erik watches and hears all that is happening, finally he decides to meet with Christine face to face. When he shows his face in her dressing room for the first time, he wears the mask that has made this play famous. He then abducts Christine, and takes her through winding tunnels down to his home in the secret catacombs of the opera house.

During a powerful duet in the performance with Christine and Erik, Christine wonders who this phantom really is, and why he wears this mask over half of his face. Remember to use your opera glasses at this point, as Christine grabs his mask by surprise and takes it off. Erik, now upset, and feeling betrayed, decides that he will not release Christine, and that she will remain there with him always. You will feel at this point, the love that the Phantom has for Christine, and the deep desire he has to feel that love in return.

The costumes, music and storyline will truly astound you. This is a performance that demands to be seen again and again to full appreciate, for this reason it has remained on Broadway so long!
